Five years ago today, at around 3 pm, a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist rammed a car carrying explosives into a CRPF convoy at Goripora near Awantipora on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Tributes paid to martyrs
The bodies of all the soldiers killed in the Pulwama attack were wrapped in the tricolor and brought to Palam in Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended greetings on the occasion.

In his address to the nation on February 17 after the Pulwama attack, PM Modi had said, There is as much fire in my heart as there is in the hearts of the people of the country because of this terror attack. Terrorists have made a big mistake by doing this. And they will definitely be punished for this act. All the tears will be replaced.”
India responded with an airstrike.
India did not take long to avenge the Pulwama attack. India avenged the Pulwama attack 12 days later on February 26, 2019, at around 3 pm. 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and struck Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps in Balakot.
In this air strike, about a thousand kilograms of bombs were dropped on the terrorist bases. Nearly 300 terrorists were killed in the Balakot air strike. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was informed about the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the air warriors, including the then IAF chief BS Dhanoa and NSA Ajit Doval.
