BJP chief JP Nadda resigns as Rajya Sabha

BJP President JP Nadda has resigned from the Rajya Sabha. JP Nadda’s resignation has been accepted by the Rajya Sabha chairman. Nadda has resigned from the post of BJP president. He is a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat.

Actually, JP Nadda had 14 days of tenure left from Himachal. The BJP president was elected unopposed to 56 Rajya Sabha seats from 15 states in the recently held elections. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. He will continue to be a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat.

Rajya Sabha elections were held on February 27 for 56 seats in 15 states. A total of 41 candidates were in the fray. Only one candidate was in the fray for these seats. Polling was held on 15 seats. These seats were from UP, Himachal and Karnataka. Polling was held in 10 seats in UP, 1 in Himachal Pradesh and 4 in Karnataka.

Of the 10 seats in UP, 8 went to the BJP and 2 to the SP. The BJP also won in Himachal Pradesh. In Karnataka, the Congress won 3 seats and the BJP 1.
