The ‘golden boy of Indian athletics’ achievement of winning a gold medal at this illustrious competition cemented his place in history.
Neeraj’s outstanding accomplishment happened in the wee hours of August 28 as he faced off against rivals from around the globe. He demonstrated exceptional skill by throwing brilliantly on his second attempt, measuring 88.17 meters, solidifying his victory in the competition.
With this outstanding performance, Neeraj not only won the gold medal, but also cemented his position as an international trailblazer for Indian sports.
With a silver medal in hand, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, another strong competitor, finished just behind Neeraj’s accomplishment. Nadeem managed a commendable throw of 87.82 meters, continuing his stellar performance from previous Commonwealth Games appearances.
Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic earned the third position on the podium by showcasing his talent with a best throw of 86.67 meters.
“This is a very proud moment for our country as we got a gold medal in the World Championship as well,” Neeraj’s father Satish Kumar, who was obviously pleased with his son’s accomplishment, told ANI. When Neeraj returns to India, we will celebrate.
